Octavio Barrientos
Founding partner, Ocala
Octavio started the firm in Ocala and still takes the cases with the most moving parts: long marriages, family businesses and support that turns on a hard-to-read income.
Before family law he spent four years doing payroll and bookkeeping for a horse farm outside Ocala, which is why he reads a tax return before he reads a complaint. He meets clients in English or Spanish. He coaches his son's Saturday soccer team, so Saturday morning appointments end by noon.
Cases Octavio leads
- Contested divorce
- Family businesses and farms
- Child support and alimony

Why Octavio practices family law
I came to law after a few years keeping the books for a family business. I learned how quickly money stops being numbers when a family splits it.
Most of my clients aren't asking for a fight. They want to know what's fair and how long it will take. I try to answer both in the first hour and keep the answer current after that.
The spreadsheet is the easy part. The hard part is making sure both houses can still pay the light bill.
